How to cleanse and recharge your crystals

Why should you even cleanse your crystals you may think, well I think that when you use your crystals, they absorb negative energy. Negative energy have low vibrations and crystals (when they are at their optimal state) have high vibrations. Low and high vibrations can not exist together, so crystals will try to raise the vibrations and their own vibrations will lower over time. To raise their vibration to their optimal you need to cleanse them.

Crystals that you work with or keep with you often should be cleansed more regularly than the ones that may simply be sitting on your desk or in a box. However, it is nice to give all of your sparkly friends a nice energetic tune-up every now and then. Use your intuition on how often your crystals need a little extra care.

I personally usually cleanse my crystals in salt water or bury them in Himalayan salt or if I need a quick fix I burn some sage or other herb and make the crystals go trough the smoke and if it’s summer I go outside and bury them in some dirt or sand.

To recharge them I usually put them outside in the night for absorbing some moonlight or if it’s a sunny day I may put them on a plate with salt and place them in the sunlight (Moonlight for feminine power and sunlight for masculine power).

But there are many ways to cleanse and recharge crystals so I thought I’ll make a list for you guys!

Sunlight – just put them out in the sunlight for some hours (in the window works fine as well) Some crystals are not suitable to put in the sun ex. Amethyst, Ametrine, Aquamarine, Citrine, Celestite, Rose quartz, Kunzite, Flourite, Opal, Smokey quartz, Topaz, Spirit quartz, Turquoise.

Moonlight-Fullmoon is the most effective one, but any day you can see the moon is great I think.

Water -The best would be natural (running) water, but tap water works as well. You could either hold them in your hand with the intention of cleansing them for some time until they feel cleansed, or you could put them in a bowl with water. Some crystals can be damaged or dissolve in water like Desert rose, Halite, Malachite, Selenite.

Saltwater – just put some (Himalayan) salt in a bowl with water and place your crystals in it. but be careful, salt could damage some of your crystals. Follow your intuition.

Salt or Brown rice – just bury your crystals and when you are done throw away the salt/rice. Some crystals could be damaged by salt.

Sage or Incense – Burn some incense and hold them in the smoke or waft the smoke over your crystals. Sage and other incense also clear the space/room from bad energy.

Sound – Have the crystals in the vibration of the sound. Play Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, tingsha, bells or drums near the crystals.

Buring in the earth – Mother earth helps the crystals to re-tune into their natural vibration. Remember to mark where you buried them so you find them later.

Flower petals – Bury your crystals in flower petals, you could use any one you like. different flowers have different healing properties, roses for love, lavender for relaxation and so on..

Clusters or druse or geode – place your crystals on your cluster, druse or inside your geod overnight for cleansing is also one method.

Self-cleansing crystals – There are some self-cleansing crystals that doesn’t need any cleansing at all, such as selenite, citrine, kyanite and Amethyst/quartz clusters.

Essential oils -You can use different essential oils for cleansing, put just a few drops on your hands and “massage” it into your crystals.

Cleansing spray – There are some different cleansing sprays made with intention/essential oils/herbs or all of them that you can simply spray on your crystals and let dry. You could also simply use rose water to spray on them.

Everybody have their own metods so here are some youtube videos about it also:
